About Me
I am Ajai, and this is my personal blog of sorts. If people took up careers based on what major they graduated in, I would have been a Mechanical Engineer. I figured out that I wasn't attracted to the domain quite early, and went on to try a bunch of things - content writing, marketing, analytics and software development, in that order. Currently, I'm in FinTech/Investments, and my sense is that I quite like it. I still don't know if I've found my calling though.
I am currently based in Chennai, India, and I work as a solutions consultant at an investment banking services firm. When I'm not working, you can catch me doomscrolling. I'm fairly interested in discussing (read ranting on) history, politics, cricket, films, Indian urban mobility & sometimes mortality.
I am afraid of dying and yet make no efforts to improve my longevity. I enjoy learning new things, but I often struggle to stay committed. I either lose motivation as I don't see a point in learning the thing or get lured by other intriguing things. Too many beautiful things in this world, and too little time to master them all, something like that.
I am quite bad at socializing, especially when it comes to making new friends. I try to avoid wasting people's time, and generally don't initiate conversations unless absolutely necessary. However, I love talking to people who show interest in me and my work, and I go to great lengths to get to know them and befriend them.
